A note from the useless author / designer: When I started this blog, it was with the view to have some weekly, personal creative output, away from the restrictions of my full-time design job. Somewhere for me to try new things, and get out of my comfort zone as a designer. Obviously, it also acts as a great platform for me to shout about films I love. In this case, trying something out of my comfort zone, which I’m still not completely happy with, has ended up with this review going out far later than I had intended. Which, in this instance, is a real shame, because it’s a film that I wanted everyone to see. So please, when this film gets its commercial release, seek it out. Love it, hate it. Just give it your time.

What’s It About: A vagrant fugitive, Mud, takes refuge in an abandoned boat, evading the law and some pretty nasty guys who want him dead. The boat ends up belonging to a couple of kids, Ellis and Neckbone, with whom he forms a strong bond. While he’s trying to avoid getting killed, he’s also trying to find his true love.
